Lord Demon by Roger Zelazny
This was one of Zelazny's last works and was unfinished at his death. A friend and colleague, Jane Lindskold, finished the book for him. The story follows Kai Wren, a demon hero from the last war with the gods, as he is pulled into a web of intrigue and war. Kai Wren, the Lord Demon, must learn who he can trust among his fellow demons and discovers more faithful allies among the humans of Earth.
Kai Wren's story is the tale of deceit, betrayal, and magic. It is also a tale of love, revenge, and self discovery as Kai Wren finds that he is not exactly the demon he thought he was.
Opinion: Not as good as the Chronicles of Amber. Lord Demon has a few eye-rolling moments that must be inside jokes for the author, but overall, it is excellent storytelling. The end is a bit flat, but I'm assuming that Zelazny didn't write much of the last few chapters. The first half of the book is classic Zelazny. Not a must read, but worth a look.
