Is it Thursday? Then it must be time for another entry in my up-to-date never neglected daily journal.
Since we last met, much has happened. Jack Sparrow came back from the dead. Earl went to jail. People got voted off. Idols were elected. Celebrities danced. Everything changed. Everything stayed the same. And I stopped updating.
Oh, you noticed? Yeah, sorry about that. I know, I know, I didn't even say goodbye. There are a number of reasons for my prolonged absence, but they'll all sound like excuses. Let's just write it off to apathy and move on, shall we?
During my sabbatical, I visited California and hung out with various Templins and Andersons. They all welcomed us with open arms. In some cases, the arms were Nerf based and were aimed at me. S'okay, though. I responded with foam swords. Arrgh!
I now own an autographed copy of The Ghost Brigades by John Scalzi. If you haven't read any of his stuff, pick up Old Man's War. If you enjoy military science fiction or just good writing, this is the stuff.
The autographed copy came as a surprise. I mentioned to Pam that J.S. would be appearing at her favorite bookstore, so she went down, bought a copy, and had him sign it "Max Headroom for president".Don't know the Max Headroom story? I'll be posting the continuing saga of a phrase over at my home eventually.
I'm going to the Midwest Writers Workshop again this year, which means I need to get off of my butt and start writing. I need a 1000 words to enter the workshop contest. Sounds easy, doesn't it? So why am I stuck? More to the point, why am I writing here instead of working on a story?
That said, I'm off to work on it.
Later.
