No posts for a while, I know. Considering the quality of what you would have read had I posted, all I can say is “You’re welcome.”

Now, on to all the news that’s fit to print.

The CBS show “Armed and Famous” has finished it’s regular run. It was actually only on the air for three weeks (two episodes the first week and then two regular shows). The reason given was that it failed to take on the competition in it’s time slot. Given the fact that the competition was “American Idol”, that seems a little cruel. That’s like an arm wrestling match between Batman and Superman. Gee, Bats, we’re firing you because you’re not stronger than a solar charged juggernaut from another world.

I must make a confession. I watched “Armed and Famous” and was disappointed when I heard it was cancelled. It was partly because the show was set in Muncie, where I live (heads up, stalkers! He’s given away what town he lives in.) and partly it was just fun. Yes, I know it didn’t really portray how police work is really done. They didn’t show any paperwork. They didn’t put the celebrities through the extensive training that real police officers get. The celebrities didn’t have to do a lot of the crap work that real cops do. My answer is that it’s entertainment, not a documentary. Yes, Erik Estrada and Wee Man hammed it up for the camera. Yes, LaToya Jackson looked silly. Yes, Trish Stratus had to be reminded that you don’t sign autographs when you’re arresting someone. Yes, Jack Osbourne… well, actually, Jack seemed like he did pretty well. He didn’t overact. He listened to his partner. He didn’t get all preachy with the people he was dealing with. He acted like a rookie cop. He made some rookie mistakes, but overall, he didn’t do too bad.

All in all, it was a guilty pleasure and I can’t wait for the DVD set to come out.

Winter has set in with a vengeance. We are desperately awaiting news of double digits on the thermometer. Those of you who abandoned Indiana for warmer climes can just shut up.

A couple of friends of mine recently celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary. They are amazing. All these years and they still seem to be as much in love as they were the first day she drunkenly wandered into his house. I’m sure that the police and the judge who issued the restraining order would be as surprised as I am to find that they are living happily ever after.

Congrats, A&P!

We watched the movie “American Dreamz” last night. Yes, Microsoft Word is telling me that I misspelled Dreamz and it’s absolutely right. Unfortunately, that’s the name of the movie. It was an odd piece about a American Idol type show. Hugh Grant was great as the host/judge of the show who was a jerk and knew it. At the beginning of the show, he get’s mad at his girlfriend for being supportive and loving because it makes him worry about making her happy instead of concentrating on making himself happy. Yeah, a prince of a guy. Not the kind of guy you’d like to know, but Grant makes it fun to watch. I can’t say I highly recommend the movie, but there are enough good bits that it’s worth watching.

Highlight: The terrorist contestant who’s tasked with the job of martyring himself on the final show chooses “My Way” by Sinatra as his final song.
And now, the end is here
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and ev'ry highway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way…

Brazil is touring again. Tour schedule found here See them if you can. Buy the album if you can’t. The latest album blows their older ones away. Besides, they’re cool guys. Really. Just ask them.

Ok, that’s it for now. No more long hiatuses. I sorta promise.
